The Tate describes Patrick Caulfield as "an English painter and printmaker known for his bold canvases". This was continued into the design of his tombstone
The monument was undergoing some maintenance on the day of our visit. The three Workers of the World on this particular job were laudibly relaxed on the matter of health and safety and I was allowed to approch and place GT on the plinth. (The first deployment of the £2.74 "Foldable Easy Reach Pick Up Reaching Claw Long Arm Gripper Grabber Helping Hand Tool" from Amazon: the whole piece is 3.7m (12ft) high).
The Adams grave is modest and sweet. Visitors often leave a biro and there is a towel nearby. Stephen Fry's Guardian obituary (a lament) is here.
